Hey bloggy friends!  Today has ending up being a nice relaxing day.  A few things I was planning on doing have been canceled which leaves me some time to play with the kids and get some things done around the house!  I helped at Caleb’s end of the year Luau class party this morning.  It was really cute.  Something happened that I thought was really cute.  I was helping the kids make leis and one of the little boys didn’t get the pattern (straw, flower, straw, flower) right and he says, “Ah, I’m so lame!”  Immediately the other kids in the group start saying, “No, you’re not lame!”, “You are so awesome!”, “No way, Jacob, you’re so not lame”, “Your lei looks so good!”.  It was really cute.  If only we as adults could be as supportive of each other as these cute little kindergarteners.

After school the kids and I went outside and played some tee ball.  Caleb had his first practice last night and he did great!  We practiced catching grounders and knowing when to NOT run to the next base.

That’s about all around here.  I took today off from working out to let my quad heal.  It is doing much better today.  Thank you to those of you who asked.  We’ll see how I’m feeling tomorrow.  I may still skip out on the lunges tomorrow in boot camp so I’m good to go for my 5 1/2 mile run on Friday.

I hope you all have a great day!

This morning we had a great camp workout.  We did Tabata Intervals.  These are so awesome!  If you don’t know what they are check back this weekend and I will give you a “Tabata Tutorial”.  🙂

For breakfast I had a Peanut Butter Chocolate Freeze!  And let me say, it definately made me freezing!  I had to go put my coat back on after I finished it!

In the blender:

  • 3/4 cup Calorie Countdown Chocolate Milk
  • 3/4 scoop chocolate peanut butter protein powder
  • 1/2 T. peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1 T. cocoa
  • Stevia
  • Ice

Once again, it was nice and thick and had to be eaten with a spoon!

Ok, I alluded to the big news yesterday and in the title of this post.  Here goes.  I will be putting the goals I mentioned a few days ago on hold for a little while because Saundra talked me into running a 10-miler with her!  AH!  Here are the reasons why I’m scared and probobly shouldn’t do it:

  • The farthest I’ve ran in my life is 6.2 miles (a 10k)
  • The farthest I’ve ran since having Aubrey 8 months ago (ok, so the farthest I’ve ran in 17 months) is 3 miles
  • My knees sometimes ache if I run to often/far
  • I’ve got boot camp I have to keep my energy up and body healthy for

Here are the reasons why I am still going to do it when I probobly shouldn’t:

  • It is a downhill race (which I know is harder on your knees but we will train for that) but it won’t be as hard aerobically
  • The scenery will be beautiful (down Provo Canyon)
  • I want to support my friend 🙂
  • It would be such a great accomplishment

With that said, I am going to watch my knees very carefully and adjust accordingly.  I am going to have to add mileage faster than the reccomended 10% per week so I will have to watch it so that I don’t get hurt.  If something does happen, Brandon said he’d take my spot and run it with Saundra 😉 or I can just lose the money as it’s only $25.

So, what do you think?  Am I completely crazy?!  The race is June 13th and I’ll keep you posted every step of the way.  When I get our training schedule written I’ll post it up here.

(Question for you:  A friend of mine said that my site has been loading really slowly on her computer.  It loads very quickly on mine so I just wanted to ask if any of you were having the same problem?)

After the bars had hardened I took them out of the freezer, cut them up and wrapped them in plastic wrap.  I stuck one in the fridge to have for lunch.

When I was ready for lunch I took it out of the fridge to try.  It was SO good!  It had the perfect consistency.  It was soft and moist but definately not mushy like some soft bars I’ve tried.  It had a really good flavor.  Next time, though, I’m going to add some coconut extract.  That would be awesome!  They had a good coconut taste but I could’ve used a little more of it.

The bar had my protein and good fats so I just added a fruit and veggies smoothie to complete the meal.

This drink was loaded!  It had some orange, grapes, apple, spinach, cucumber, red bell pepper, brocolli and stevia.

Talk about a yummy lunch!  I’m having my second “computer time” of the day.  I try to do my computer work in 3 segments.  I work during both of Aubrey’s naps and after kids go to sleep.  During my non computer time I got the laundry done and painted my nails!  I got a really good base coat and top coat that is supposed to keep your polish on for a long time.  We’ll see how it goes.  I’m a nail biter so I try to keep them painted.  But when I paint them, if they start chipping I just sit and pick at them.  I’m hoping this will be the trick!  I’ll keep ya posted!

I hope you all have a fantastic afternoon!  Oh!  Who was surprised with the Biggest Loser Finale last night like I was?!?!  I can’t believe Helen!  And Jerry?!?!  What the heck?  All of those people amaze me!

This morning my alarm went off at 6am.  It was hard to get up today, I’ll be honest.  It’s getting harder and harder but the feeling I have at 8am when I’m taking Caleb to school and my workout is done is unbeatable.  I got my booty out of bed and by 6:15 I was testing out one of next weeks camp workouts.  It was great and a lot of fun.  I’ll talk more about it next week after we do it in camp.

For breakfast, after my workout I wanted a chocolatey shake but I wanted it to be a good, complete post workout meal so I added some uncooked oats to it.  It was great and so thick I had to eat it with a spoon, hence the “freeze” in the name as opposed to “shake”.

I am so excited to review this product for you guys!   The company is called MixMyGranola.  In a nut shell, you get on their website, choose your granola base (Organic Granola, French Vanilla Granola, Organic Muesli or Low Fat Granola) then you add whatever you want to it from their wide variety of choices.  They have tons of different nuts and seeds (including some I have never even heard of!), a wide variety of dried fruit, and even some sweet treats, which you all know I love!  It was WAY fun to pick and choose the ingredients that were going to go into my specially made granola!  Not to mention all of their ingredients are all natural and preservative free!  Many are 100% organic, too.

I decided to choose a “theme” to my granola to ensure it’s great flavor.  I went with a tropical theme.  I really wanted to add some of the good sweet stuff but I thought it would take away from the tropical-ness of it all.  How tropical are chocolate peanut butter pretzels, really?  Oh, they still sound so good, though!  Maybe in my next batch.  Here are the ingredients that I chose:

Isn’t that last ingredient so special?  It made me smile. 🙂  Look how yummy it looks:

Shipping was fast and there is a flat shipping fee of $4.99 no matter how many containers you order.  It is a tad pricey but they send you a $3 off coupon to use on your next order.  I’d say it’s worth it for a special treat.  I’m going to enjoy it slowly so it lasts a while.

This morning I enjoyed 1/2 cup of it stirred into a combo of greek yogurt and peanut butter.  It was so wonderful.

Thank you MixMyGranola!

Here’s the recipe of the day, Pina Colada Freeze!

This was supposed to be a protein shake but it turned out a little icy and then I wanted to stir in some chunkies.  It turned out way good and so thick I had to eat it with a spoon!  Hence the name “freeze” as opposed to “shake”.  Hmmm…  do I see a new “freeze line” in the works?  We’ll see…

Here’s what I did:

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1/4 t. coconut extract
  • lots of ice

Add 1/2 cup fiber one cereal and 2 T. shredded coconut to the blender.  Pulse a few times mix it all together and enjoy!

Do you like cheesecake?  If so, you’ll love this new shake combo I came up with!  It is so good!  And, like the rest of the shakes in my “thick and frothy” line, it is a BIG shake.  Here’s what’s in it:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup egg beaters
  • 1 scoop cookies and cream protein powder (this made an oreo cheesecake – use vanilla protein powder and berries for berry cheesecake)
  • 1/4 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 T. low fat cream cheese
  • 1 truvia packet
  • 8-10 ice cubes

Mix up and pour into a BIG cup!  This one is so good, you guys!

In my world today:

I feel like I’ve been going nonstop today!  I probobly won’t have much time in the next few days to update but I will make sure to get a recipe up here.  I’ll update you all on life when I have a second!
